During 2021 and 2022, I had the pleasure of co-directing the Surrey New Writers Festival. I did this alongside some other students and staff from the University of Surrey, my alma mater, who fund and run the festival.
Over that time, I was tasked with:
- Deciding the speaker lineup and schedule
- Reaching out to speakers and companies with invitiations or advertising enquiries
- Overseeing and assisting all the volunteer teams working on marketing and social media
- Moderating and chairing events myself, either digitally or personally
- Managing on-the-day issues.
In short, I was a large part of ensuring that all of these processes run efficiently, smoothly and to a high degree of professionalism. I even received a special commendation from the university for my work on the festival, and in helping it represent the unversity’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiative.
I also designed and created the 2022 digital flyer, 2022 digital ticket release, and a few social media posts myself in PhotoShop (which you can see some of above and all in my ad gallery), and wrote a few articles too over the years.
Lastly, I did do the website copy, but since the 2024 website redesign, that has unfortunately been lost to time.
