This essay was written for a cinematic theory module at my university. It explores Vivian Sobchack’s theory of the ‘Cinesthetic Subject’ through the horror film A Quiet Place, investigating how cinema’s audio-visual cues can be used to stimulate viewers’ physical senses to (among other things) scare them.
