This article explains how to make better New Year’s Resolutions for your writing, and outlines how to break up big and vague goals like ‘improving my poetry’ or even ‘getting fitter’ into small, clear and managable tasks that slowly build up to your goal. The post explains how to structure these goals into what I call “ladders”, and how to use these “ladder” structures to slowly yet reliably work up to your goal. It was written for the 2021 Surrey New Writers Festival social media campaign, which I was assistant director for.
